WATER FILTRATION · BRAINERD, MN
Water filtration system installation in Brainerd and the Lakes area
Filter systems set on the incoming line, sized for the household and explained before the job is done, by a Brainerd plumber.
Chapter 01
What a water filtration install actually is
A filtration system is a plumbing job first. A housing, a cartridge or media tank, a bypass and a set of fittings have to be tied into the line that brings water into the house, and they have to be set where you can reach them when it is time to service them. DB Plumbing in Brainerd installs water filtration systems for the kitchen and for the whole house.
DB Plumbing's own job photo on the about page shows what that looks like in a real basement: a whole-house filter housing on the incoming line, sitting beside a pressure tank and a water softener, with a technician working at the tank. It is a good picture of the idea. The water comes in, passes through the filter, and only then goes on to the rest of the house.

How DB Plumbing sets one up
The craft is in the placement. A whole-house filter belongs on the incoming line after the main shutoff and the pressure tank, with shutoff valves on both sides so a cartridge change does not mean shutting down the house. Leaving enough clear space below the housing matters too, because the housing has to be unscrewed and lowered when the cartridge is swapped.
A filter that is sized too small restricts the flow at the tap, and one that is hidden behind a wall gets ignored until it clogs. So the install is laid out for both: the right size for the household, in a spot a homeowner can reach. Before the job is finished, the cartridge, the housing and the shutoff valves are shown to you and explained, so you know what you own. Call (218) 851-3424 to talk through your setup.
Chapter 03
Cartridge changes and what a change at the tap means
Cartridges are consumables, and the schedule depends on the cartridge type and how much water the house uses. Changing one on time is easier than dealing with a system that has been left until it fails. Note the date when you change one, and keep a spare on the shelf so a change is a five minute job.
Your own senses are the early warning. If water pressure at the faucets starts to drop, the cartridge may be loaded and restricting flow. If the taste or smell you installed the filter to fix starts to come back, the cartridge is likely used up. If you see a drip at the housing, shut the valves and call. DB Plumbing is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
